When Adformatie launched their new website, they asked us (amongst other leading agencies) to create a campaign that positioned them as the nr.1 platform for advertising, marketing and media news. The solution was simple: why should we talk about Adformatie, if we had this perfect opportunity to promote ourselves?

The bananas were given a sticker of a frog on their skin! It came from the Rainforest Alliance, and stood for respecting the local farmers, maintaining fauna and flora, keeping the water clean and making delicious bananas the right way. Chiquita wanted their customers to see and do what it takes to earn such sticker. So we made a virtual banana plantage on the web, complete with plantation masters and servants, fishermen in the woods, real estate projects and wildlife running around! In the mean time, you had to balance your checkbook and keep everybody happy…

It got a Gold IAC Gold Award, and became finalist in Montreux and the Cresta Awards.

Christmas time as always an opportunity for the agency to do something extra creative, not held behind by client restrictions. Decorating the worn-down bus station in front of our office into a christmas stable felt like the perfect idea! Until the bus company kidnapped it, and left us no other choice to build one our own. Resulting in some fine after-hour footage, and a wide-spread appearance in on- and offline media :)

Of course the cabin was equipped with motion-activated music and lights, and had a display showing the related tweets…

A simple but really cool idea for Club Nokia: on the first day of snow, you got an MMS snowball right in your screen! Gotcha! It got a Omma Award for Innovation & Creativity :-) Another MMS showed a helpful window cleaner guy, giving your screen a good scrubbing for the fresh new year! This one got a RMB Cyber Lions Award (2004)!

Created at Markee (Ghent). The final execution is more or less the first rough visualisation I made, just slightly better photoshopped. It got me a Full Page of the Year Award (2001).

Nokia donates a substantial amount of money to charity each year. This time, the choice went to Villa Pardoes, a side project of the Efteling amusement park where terminally ill children are given every care and diversion. Each Club Nokia member who put his name on a star ment one Euro more for the kids.

Sony Home Entertainment wanted to give their DVD release of the“When a stranger calls”-remake a little more buzz. Following the film theme we wanted to set up a site where you could actually scare a babysitter by calling her. Phone calls have been generated by websites before, in this case you would interact yourself with a website through your phone.
The cost of setting up such a service seemed out-of-budget, so we went for the microphone or keyboard in your laptop for the interaction. Still some scary footage at the command of your voice!

Stassano, the old Flemish brand of the familiar milkman, was taken over by Dutch Campina. The milk became more nutritious too, from the feeding of the cows with linseed oil. The whole story was divised in three 3 waves, from name switch over brand promise to participation. With fruit running off with the old logo and an interactive balancing banner along the way, plus a balloon flight over the green grass fields as top price!

The camapaign got a Inside Internet Award.

Nokia was head sponsor of the 2003 TMF Music Awards, and wanted to give 2 members of Club Nokia a VIP-treatment at the show. It came with a new haircut, fashion clothes, backstage passes and a night in a fancy hotel. To win, you had to prove that you too could stand in the spotlights while Mr. Lightman went berserk over a seriously overspiced sandwich.

Note: The winners took their role a bit too serious. It turned out they completely trashed the hotel room, with a serious damage claim to Nokia as a result…

TeleAtlas is an organisation that produces maps for GPS systems. It is a hands-on job, driving vans through Europe with  5 cameras installed and then sending the footage to India where it is processed.

In order to make people understand how their navigation system works, or why it is important to update your maps regularly, we made a couple of demos for the TeleAtlas NavShop.

Neckermann is a travel agent focusing on quality holidays against sharp prices (“More holiday for your money”), which translates into a concept where people buy exuberant souvenirs and having trouble bringing them home. The campaign was made in collaboration with LDV United, who did the films.  The site, built up as a news channel called NTV, brought them all together, and were introduced by a casual news anchor. Each film was also enriched with an online game around the same topic…

The new IJsboerke site comes with a nice feature: when the proposed delivery dates don’t satisfy you, there is always the possibility to choose the time yourself. The service wasn’t well known amongst existing clients, so with a small budget, we created a couple of viral movies that focused on that specific proposition…

kabouters1The agency had just moved to a new location, so everybody received a styrofoam gnome to pimp to pimp the new offices. In the mean time, we were looking for a couple of new colleagues. “Maybe we can do something with the garden gnomes? ” No way, you can’t work with those guys! Which became exactly the concept!

The result was a very funny microsite and vimeo movie, which was very quickly picked up by the blogosphere!

UPDATE: due to the great response, we decided to expand this concept to recrute an apparently hard to find Coldfusion developer. This time, Igor the radioactive gnome has some problems controlling his temper, resulting in an electromagnetic server meltdown. Check it out!

These Days’  strategic partner Erwin Jansen regularly sends out highbrow books about marketing and communication to our clients. To wish them a happy holiday, we sent out a “Fake Book Cover” with a fancy title to wrap around their own holiday books. So they won’t look too silly when reading “Happy Hooker” beside the swimming pool!

IJsboerke is was a fairly old-fashioned brand of home delivered ice cream. They seriously needed a rebranding, so together with FoodPhoto we put our teeth in making the site look as yummy as the ice cream itself. The site was eventually awarded with a BeCommerce Bronze Award :-P

A Nikon D80, a 50mm f/1.8 D lens, a bike and the right time of night. These are the ingredients for a Night Light Session, where I ride around town looking for nice lighting. The first time was a year ago in Ghent, in black&white. The second time was in Utrecht, and the colors looked so nice, I left it like that. I hope to do an Amsterdam session one day…
